Power Analysis: 2015 Tour de France Week 1

Stage 1 Utrecht - Utrecht 13.8km

  • For the 13.8km time trial to start the 2015 Tour de France, Luke Durbridge was able to average 445 watts. 
  • His effort was nealry perfectly even with his Varialbility Index measuring 1.01.
  • For just over 15 minutes, Durbridge averaged 103rpm and 50.9km/h.
 

Stage 2 Utrecht - Zelande 166km

  • For the 166km stage, Rowe averaged 236 watts and 43.7km/h. 
  • During his Peak 20 Minute Power of 356 watts, Rowe averaged 89rpm and 48.1km/h. 
  • Rowe also burned 3237 calories during the stage. 

Stage 3 Anvers - Huy 159km

  • For the full 159km stage, Rowe was able to average 229 watts, or 3.12w/kg.
  • After nearly four hours of racing, Rowe produced 314 watts for over five minutes during the lead to and climb up the Mur de Huy.
  • Incredibly, that still was not his Peak 5 Minute Power value. Rowe held 392 watts on a flat section after the ascent of the Cote de Bohissau.

Stage 4 Seraing - Cambrai 223km

  • Rowe's peak power values came after 170km of racing, including his Peak 20 Minute Power of 323 watts, or 4.39w/kg.
  • The longest stage of the Tour at 223km, Rowe burned through 4217 calories over five and half hours of racing.   
  • Despite the cobblestone roads, Rowe still averaged 39.9km/h and hit a peak speed of 70km/h. 

Stage 5 Arras - Amiens Metropole 190km

  • This stage was hard from the start and never eased up. Normally overlapping, Tuft's Power 1 Hour value comes at the start of stage and his 2 Hour Power is at the end of the stage. 
  • During his Peak 1 Hour Power, Tuft averaged 260 watts and 87rpm. 
  • Tuft hit a peak speed of 83.3km/h and averaged 84rpm for the stage. 

Stage 6 Abbeville - Le Havre 191km

  • In the first half of the stage, Durbridge's Normalized Power® was 232 watts. That rose to 306 watts over the second half. 
  • During the final climb of the day, which average 6.4%, Durbridge put out 331 watts for over 3 minutes. 
  • Durbridge had a Variability Index of 1.45, showing that the peloton was either full on the gas or riding easy. 

Stage 7 Livarot - Fougeres 190km

  • Over the 190km stage, Rowe averaged 42.3km/h and burned 3127 calories. 
  • Rowe's Peak 1 Hour Power came at the end of the stage where he averaged 254 watts and 48km/h. 
  • The first half of the stage was done at an average of 38.9km/h with 770m of elevation gain. The second half of the stage was faster at 45.7km/h with 733m of elevation gain.  

Stage 8 Rennes - Mur-de-Bretagne 181km

  • Over the stage, Rowe had a peak power of 1006 watts, peak speed of 82.9km/h, and peak elevation of 331m. 
  • During his Peak 1 Hour Power, Rowe put out 286 watts, the highest value of any stage so far. 
  • Rowe averaged 48 more watts more over the second half of today's stage than the first. 

Stage 9 Vannes - Plumelec 28km
