5 sessions per week - Downhill MTB Rider

This plan takes you though three months of periodised training. One month of base training, one month of build training and a short taper to get you ready to race in just 12 weeks! For riders looking to improve on their previous Downhill racing experience or looking for a head start in their first race. This plan includes 5 sessions per week, including Body Weight Circuits for Mountain Bikers and specific mountain bike sessions. These session total up to 9 hours of quality training per week. To make the most of this training plan it is assumed that you have a good level of base fitness. If you aren't sure you're ready then why not try our Essenttial plans first? To complete this training plan, you will need: • A bike • A bike friendly stopwatch or timer • Sufficient spare time to complete the prescribed sessions • Access to a variety of trails Additional training tools to help you make the most of your training plan: • A bike computer with GPS, heart rate monitor with stopwatch function • An indoor trainer • A power meter • If you are following a mountain bike training plan you can improve your skills and technique by using the Dirt School Mountain Bike Coaching App available on The App Store.
