This is a 19 week training plan for a half iron distance race. Plan starts on Jan 1. Upon completion, athletes will be prepared to successfully complete a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike & 13.1 run. Average training volume is 10 weekly hours with heaviest week equaling 14.5 hours of training. The plan provides 3 swims, 3 bikes & 3 runs per week with 1 day off for recovery. It is periodized, allowing athletes to build base & endurance, gradually increasing in volume & intensity. Instructions are provided for all workouts and training is HR based.
