Michael Mørkøv started his cycling career on the track, competing in numerous six-day competitions and the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Series. He won numerous top three placings racing six-days, and a silver medal in the 2008 Olympic team pursuit. He also won the World Track Championships in Madison in 2009. In that same year, he signed a contract with Bjarne Riis and began developing his road cycling career - he currently races for Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank. Mørkøv found himself back on the track for the team pursuit at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, placing 5th in the Men’s Team Pursuit finals.
