Interview with Adam Hansen
TrainingPeaks Interview with Adam Hansen
TrainingPeaks' Tour de France correspondent Elizabeth Hartman met Adam Hansen for a short interview shortly after Stage 13. Read more and watch the interview on the TrainingPeaks blog at http://blog.trainingpeaks.com.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 21 Adam Hansen
Stage 21 - Adam Hansen: Étampes - Paris/Champs Élysées, 143km
Congratulations ADAM! You did it! What a great tour and finish in Paris. Most of the day was spent riding easy and enjoying the last stage, over 50% of the stage was spent in Active Recovery zone and 28% of the time spent NOT pedaling today. A normalized power of 197 watts for nearly 3 hours gave everyone a chance to breath easy and joke around in the tour. In the last hour in Paris though, the race was on like normal. 359 watts normalized in the last 58 minutes at an average speed of 30.9mph!  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 20 Adam Hansen
Stage 20 Adam Hansen - C.rilly - Saint Amand Montrond (ITT), 53km
The final TT of the tour. Looks like Adam had about 19 minutes of hard effort at his FTP in his legs today and then he had to do the best he could after that. After the first 19minutes, we noticably see Adam's HR and wattage drop and continue that way to the end of the TT.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 19 Adam Hansen
Stage 19 - Friday, July 25: Roanne - Montlu.on, 165.5km
The Tour heads back into the centre of the country almost to where it was two weeks ago as the peloton makes its weary way towards Paris.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 18 Marcus Burghardt
Marcus Burghardt Wins Stage 18- Bourg d'Oisans - Saint Étienne, 196.5km
31°C Marcus Burghardt, 18th stage Tor de France stage WINNER!!!! This is it! What it takes to win a stage in the Tour! Marcus did a phenomenal job today and was super aggressive and obviously wanted it bad. He was in the initial breakaway, but then that was caught and then he escaped again wth Feillu, only to drop Feillu on the Col De Parmenie. He caught Barredo on the descent and the two worked well together to the finish. In the final sprint Marcus achieved his Peak 5 second wattage for the day with a 1347 watt effort and the entire final sprint lasted 16 seconds for an average of 958 watts. Congratulations Marcus!  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 18 Adam Hansen
Stage 18- Bourg d'Oisans - Saint Étienne, 196.5km
Adam had the same open leash today that Marcus had, and from the looks of his file, he was trying just as hard as Marcus was to get in the break of the day. He spent about 41 minutes near the front and attacking and going with attacks to get into the break, only to not get in the right combination or time. Once his teammate Marcus went away, then it was shut it down time and conserve energy.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 17 Adam Hansen
Stage 17 - July 23: Embrun - L'Alpe d'Huez, 210.5km: Adam Hansen
Nearly 4 hours of climbing today. Nothing but up and down. Tempo in the saddle, stay with the group and finish under the time cut. That was the goal. Adam did well and finished another stage! Almost there. Just look at the kJ's burned today! Almost 6500! That is serious. 381 TSS accumulated today at an intensity level of .749. Tons of tempo!  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 16 Adam Hansen
Stage 16 - Tuesday, July 22: Cuneo - Jausiers, 157km
From the stage profile, it looked like it was all climbing! Beside some early accelerations, today was just survival for Adam. Making it in with the group and before the time cut was the order of business. Over 5000 kJ's, but only a TSS of 309, which makes it a long ride, but not too intense.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 15 Adam Hansen
Stage 15 - Embrun - Prato Nevoso, 183km
Rainy day in the Tour today. Adam had to cover some early attacks, but that didn't last too long before the main break of the day went away. Thank goodness, because in less than an hour, the HC category climb Col de Agnel began! A bit over an hour long climb for Adam and then a big chase down the other side to catch up to the main field. On the climb, Adam set a steady pace at sub-threshold for the first 40minutes of the climb and then the last 20 minutes,  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 14 Adam Hansen
Stage 14 - Nimes - Digne les Bains, 194.5km
Adam's first hour was at a NP of 350, and was spent covering a lot of attacks. After that hour, it was a lazy ride to the final climb of the day, the Col de l'Orme. In those last 35 minutes of the stage, Adam averaged 399 Watts Normalized and was right below and at his FTP for much of that time. His last 10minutes of effort looks similar to previous stages with a NP of 449 watts and HR at 164. Plenty of kJ's burned today at 4033, even though he spent 40% of his stage in the active recovery zone...  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 13 Adam Hansen
Stage 13: Narbonne - Nîmes, 182km
Finally a day that Adam didn't have to cover the early moves! 37% in active recovery zone and 22% of the total time spent NOT pedaling. The last 30 minutes of today's stage was incredibly fast and action-packed for Adam. Check out the pulls he takes in the last 8 minutes alone! He and Markus were DRILLING IT at the front. How about over 550watts at over 42mph with 110 cadence? Yes, you saw that correctly....42mph !!!!  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 12 Adam Hansen
Stage 12 - Lavelanet - Narbonne, 168.5km
3 times a charm! Adam helped Mark Cavendish score another stage win today. Just look at the last 7 minutes of Adam's ride today. He was an integral part to the stage win and drilled it hard in those last kilometers to keep Mark in the front. The last 7 minutes was spent over his threshold pushing the pace as hard as he could in order to keep Mark out of the wind. Great job ADAM!  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 11 Adam Hansen
Stage 11 - Lannemezan - Foix, 167.5km
Look at those watts in the first 35 minutes.... That's gotta hurt after a rest day! That's a lot of covering attacks and going with accelerations. Luckily it didn't last too long and Adam was able to recover and relax for a while. 20% of his time not pedaling today, so a good day to recover before the climb of Col de Portal.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 10- Adam Hansen
Stage 10 - Pau - Hautacam, 156km: Adam Hansen
Survival Part 2..... get to the finish, get over the climbs. That's all you have to do! Adam did a great job of just surviving today and doing anything he could for the team. Tons of time at sub threshold and threshold again today and not much time spent not pedaling. Hard to rest when you are going uphill!  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 9 Adam Hansen
Stage 9 - Toulouse - Bagnères de Bigorre, 224km: Adam Hansen
Survival for Adam today. Nothing much besides that on the docket. Cover some moves at the beginning of the stage and then survive to the finish. Big climbs today at the end of the stage today and Adam pushed hard at the front for the first 9 minutes on the Peyresourde, after that it's just making it to the finish. 6hours in the saddle, nearly 350 TSS and 5800kJ's.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 8 Adam Hansen
Stage 8: Figeac - Toulouse, 172.5km
1 Mark Cavendish (GBr) Team Columbia 4.02.54 (42.61km/h) 2 Gerald Ciolek (Ger) Team Columbia 3 Jimmy Casper (Fra) Agritubel Unbelieveable. Adam continues to impress. He's getting stronger and stronger! We have to officially upgrade Adam's FTP after reviewing today's file. The first hour of the stage, his Normalized power was 412 watts, and if you subtract out the first 12 minutes of the stage, Adam averaged 422 normalized watts.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 7 Adam Hansen
Stage 7: Brioude - Aurillac, 159km
What makes a Tour rider??? Read it and weep. This file shows you what it takes to be a Tour domestique. Not a GC leader, but a domestique. First hour...... 399 watts Normalized power..... Right at threshold. First hour and 42 minutes......394 watts normalized.....  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage 6 Adam Hansen
Stage 6: Aigurande - Super Besse, 195.5km Adam Hansen
First stage in the mountains and Adam had a pretty good ride. Certainly he had to work for Kim Kirchen today and make sure he was fed and had plenty of water for the final climbs of the day. Making it over the Col de la Croix-Morand near the front was certainly an important point for him and he drilled it hard on that one to make it over. 413 watts for 16minutes has been his longest and hardest effort of the tour so far.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage Five 2008 Adam Hansen
Stage 5: Cholet - Châteauroux, 232km Adam Hansen
The most exciting part of this file is the leadout of Mark Cavendish for the Stage win. Adam did a big job here in the final 13 miles with some serious pulls at the front and a big lead out at the end. Great job by Adam here.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage Five 2008 George Hincapie
Stage 5: Cholet - Châteauroux, 232km George Hincapie
George EVEN marked the lead out on his SRM! He's the man. Check out SRM #1, that George marked, which is the final 11minutes of the race where he was helping to lead out Cavendish. Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork! Great job !  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage Five 2008 Marcus Burgardt
Stage 5: Cholet - Châteauroux, 232km Marcus Burghardt
This is what it takes to lead out a Tour Stage Sprinter! Compare this with George's file AND Adam Hansen's file and you have what it takes to get a stage win in the Tour.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage Four 2008
Stage 4: Cholet - Cholet (ITT), 29.5km
Pretty solid effort by Adam today. He paced himself well, didn't overdo it in the first 5 minutes of the ride and stayed within himself. For a flat stage, there sure was a lot of fluctuation in speed, so I am wondering if he had to deal with some gusting winds.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage Three 2008
Stage 3: Saint-Malo - Nantes, 208km
The easiest stage so far with a normalized power of 301 watts for the day, Adam really got to relax a bit in the beginning of the stage.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage Two 2008
Stage 2: Auray - Saint Brieuc, 164.5km- Adam Hansen
A slight rain and some wind was on the menu for today as the Tour de France tackled another hilly stage with (4) categorized climbs.  Read the race analysis & files...

Stage One 2008
Stage 1: Brest - Plumelec, France, 197.5km- Adam Hansen
With four category 4 climbs on the parcours, and finishing on a long hill, it's going to be a tough one for everyone. It's not a 'flat' stage by any stretch of the imagination. Click the link to the left to see all the details!  Read the race analysis & files...
