Three times a charm! Adam helped Mark Cavendish score another stage win today. Just look at the last 7 minutes of Adam's ride today. He was an integral part to the stage win and drilled it hard in those last kilometers to keep Mark in the front. What a great job by Mark. Very impressive.
Mark didn't have to do too much today until the end, so I am sure he appreciated the active recovery, which was the zone he was in for 30% of the stage. This stage scored the lowest TSS for the stage besides the time trial, so for sure it has been the easiest stage for Adam.
Of course, Adam had his duties to attend to in the beginning of the stage by covering the attacks, for over 21 minutes, his Normalized Power was up there in the 415wattage range. Then the stage calmed down a bit and Adam was able to spend plenty of time not pedaling and coasting along in the group. Only near the end of the stage did he have to move back up to the front, make sure Mark was in position and then get to work in driving the pace with Markus Burghardt. He spent the last 19 minutes at or near his FTP and then the last 7 minutes over his threshold pushing the pace as hard as he could in order to keep Mark out of the wind.
Great job ADAM!
