Stage 14 was another day for the lower placed GC riders to establish a breakaway and go for a stage victory. All of the main GC riders stayed protected in the peleton. The biggest story of the day was how George Hincapie, a member of the day's breakaway, missed out on getting the yellow jersey by only 5 seconds.

Five minutes behind the breakaway Chris Anker finished in the main field in 88th place. Today was a pretty easy day for Chris as he set some of his lowest wattage of the Tour so far:

-2nd lowest average watts at 198w

-3rd lowest TSS value of the Tour a 235 points
