*based on a threshold power of 380w The final stage of the Tour de France played out as expected. The final laps in Paris on the Champs-Elysees proved to be the ultimate playground for Team Columbia’s British ace sprinter Mark Cavendish. “Cav” and his loyal lead-out man Mark Renshaw placed first and second quite easily in front of the a cast of sprinters who are still searching for ways to beat Team Columbia’s near perfect sprint team. Team Saxo Bank rode into Paris with their man Andy Schleck sitting safely in second place in the general classification, 4:11 behind race winner Alberto Contador. The stage into Paris is traditionally a parade of teams for the first 100kms prior to entering the circuits in the shadow of the L’Arc d’Triumphe. Chris Anker Sorensen took it easy today and didn’t need to do anything extraordinary to finish his first Tour de France. Stage 221 was by far the easiest stage of the Tour so far.
