Rory Sutherland, as usual, closed out the Tour of California with a top result. Just like in the 2008 edition, Rory finished the final stage a wheel length behind George Hincapie. But this time instead of coming for the win, George and Rory were sprinting for 3rd place just 40 seconds behind the winning duo of Frank Schleck and Vincenzo Nibali.

Rory uploaded his SRM power data, which was collected on his Garmin Edge 705, to his TrainingPeaks account within hours of the finish so his coach, Adnan Kadir, could have an immediate look. Adnan pointed out "Of the data that is intact, the most interesting is the 9:50 at 407W on the last long climb. It is impressive that he could do that at the end of such a long race week and particularly hard day today."

Rory added "I felt pretty tired today, but motivated since this stage is near where I live. I really enjoyed racing today. It is a shame we only had Floyd and myself in the bunch, but I had a good sprint and I may as well try! It was a good way to close it."
