Dave Scott was the first to win the Ironman World Championship six times, in 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, and 1987. No less impressive was Dave’s ability to take 2nd at Kona amongst a competitive field of younger professional athletes in 1994, when he came back out of athletic retirement at age 40. This legendary achievement earned him the nickname “The Man”. Dave was honored as the first inductee into the Ironman Hall of Fame in 1993 and the 2010 class of the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame.
Today, Dave runs his coaching practice in Boulder, Colo., working with all types and abilities of athletes from the novice to the professional. He is the national triathlon coach of Team in Training, leads sports clinics and races across the country, and offers motivational talks and keynote addresses to corporations and a wide variety of organizations. Dave’s former clients and advisees include Ironman World Champions Craig Alexander and Chrissie Wellington.
