Jim Vance is a USAT Level II Certified Coach, TrainingBible Elite Coach, writer and columnist for many publications in endurance sports, and a professional triathlete. Jim holds a BS in Physical and Health Education, K-12, from the University of Nebraska, where he ran track and cross country. He was a school teacher for 6 years, before committing to triathlon full-time. His teaching experience has made his ability to relate to athletes and teach them skills, a strong suit in his coaching.

As an athlete, Jim spent time at the US Olympic Training Center, training under the guidance of the National Team Coaching Staff. He has also seen success with two World Championship titles as an amateur, in both XTERRA and ITU. The range of performances even stretch to Ironman. Jim finished 3rd at the 2006 Ironman Florida, in a time of 8:37:09. He also has a host of other top performances in varying distances and disciplines.
